CRDA’s Resource Center - Culture of Reading

Promote the Culture of reading
The Resource Center takes this opportunity to invite the NGO community and every one involved in the development sector to promote the culture of reading in the society. As you all know there are various development programs that aim at reducing poverty; we have PRSP, MDG and many other acronyms to fight poverty in Ethiopia and there is a tendency of relating poverty solely to natural causes.

Poverty is an expression of a sum total of a society’s cultural, natural, historical and traditional beliefs, heritages and ways of living. One of the causes and at the same time consequences of poverty is ignorance and lack of education. But in many underdeveloped countries an additional drawback is poor culture of reading and weak information and communication system.

The CRDA Resource Center is now committed to nurturing this habit and to enhance people’s and organization's interest in motivating them to:

  • promote and establish libraries, resource centers, and other information services.
  • strengthen existing libraries.
  • value and promote the culture of reading
  • donate books to libraries.
  • inherit their children the habit of reading and of going to libraries.

  • In this connection, please forward your comments, ideas and experiences to us on this regard and to see as to how we can work together to promote the cause.
